International Good Neighbor Council |
Welcome
to the Laredo Chapter of the International Good Neighbor Council. We are
excited to have you join our group. For more than 50 years the IGNC has
worked to promote a better understanding and neighborliness between the
United States and Mexico.
The Laredo chapter is one of thirty chapters throughout the United States and Mexico. We are fortunate to work very closely with our sister chapter in Nuevo Laredo and share many of our meetings and events with them. Our busiest time of the year is during the Washington Birthday Celebration when we host the Abrazo Child Reception and work in conjunction with the WBCA to organize the International Bridge Ceremony. However, we have other projects that we participate in throughout the year. Each year we give a renewable scholarship at TAMIU and Laredo Community College; we participate in two international conventions and we sponsor a Christmas project at the Hospital Civil in Nuevo Laredo. This year we have a committee to establish a cultural exchange program for youth, and, of course, we have fund raising efforts to support our different events. I am looking forward to getting to know each one of you and to your help in keeping the International Good Neighbor Council thriving and representing the best of Laredo!
